Abstract
The cluster compounds [Pt3(mu-CNXyl)2(mu-CO)(CNXyl)(PCy3)2] (1) and [P t3(mu-CNXyl)3(CNXyl)2(PCy3)] (2) (Cy = C6H11, Xyl = C8H9) react with 1 equiv of [Au(PCY3)][PF6] to give PCy3)}{Pt3(mu-CNXyl)2(mu-CO)-(CNXyl) (PCy3)2}][PF6] (3) and [{Au(PCy3)}{Pt3(mu-CNXyl)3(CNXyl)2(PCy3)}][PF6] (4), respectively. IR and multinuclear NMR data are given for 3 and 4 and related compounds. The X-ray crystal structure is given for compo und 3, which crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/m with Z = 2, a = 14.988(13) angstrom, b = 18.917(10) angstrom, c = 19.28(2) a ngstrom, and beta = 67.57(6)degrees. The structure was refined to R = 0.0682 for the 3068 observed reflections (I greater-than-or-equal-to 3 sigma(I)).
