BROAD-BAND WAVELENGTH SHIFTER FOR PICOSECOND OPTICAL PULSES AT 1.5-MU-M

The Letter demonstrates the 5.0 nm wavelength conversion of a modelock ed optical pulse train by cavity-enhanced high nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a 1-53 mum injection-locked bulk InGaAsP V-groove laser. In put pulses having 17 ps duration are broadened to 61 ps due to the fil tering imposed by the mixing laser. The output pulse broadening is sho wn to depend on the mixing laser bias current.
