The authors report the case of a primary cutaneous abscess due to an a
typical Nocardia brasiliensis strain, which developed on the face of a
n old diabetic woman. She was cured after surgery associated to 4 week
s of minocycline treatment. Classification of the clinical types of cu
taneous nocardiosis is discussed. Publications on primary cutaneous no
cardiosis in France are reviewed.
