Abstract
The vinylketene complex 3 reacts with dimethylbenzylamine to give a se ries of complexes 6, 7 and 8, which were fully characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. Complexes 6 and 7 could be obtained in the absen ce of amine and are presumably formed by decarbonylation/coupling reac tions of vinylketene complexes 3, whereas 8 results from the deprotona tion of 3. In the case of dimethylallylamine, as well as the aforement ioned complexes, we isolated two amides 9 and 10, which result from th e addition of a dimethylamino fragment to the vinylketene with loss of the allyl group, and two cyclopentenylamines 16 and 17, which result from the addition of the vinylcarbene moiety to the unsaturated amine.
