Abstract
In order to find experimental conditions for the regioselective degrad ation of the side chains of different labdanes related to (Z)-communic acid 2b some oxidation reactions have been studied. Thus, the reactio ns of the labdatrienes 2b, 9 and the labdadienes 10, 11 with ozone and with the OSO4-NaIO4 system, and the treatment of 9 with m-CPBA (3-chl oroperoxybenzoic acid) are described.
