The loss mechanisms and the loss kinetics of MoO3 on MoO3/Al2O3 and Mo
O3/SiO2 catalysts are studied in this paper. It is found that the loss
of MoO3 is caused by the reaction of molybdenum species on the surfac
e of the catalysts with water. The loss kinetics of MoO3 are the same
on both catalysts and can be expressed as r=kVC(8)(3.5) . But the loss
of MoO3 is smaller on MoO3/Al2O3 than on MoO3/SiO2, which is related
to the strength of interactions between molybdenum trioxide and the su
pports.
