Iv. Melikhov et al., MORPHOLOGICAL SELECTION OF AGGREGATES DURING COAGULATION IN SUPERSATURATED MEDIA, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 55(3), 1993, pp. 421-426
In the example of coagulation of solid particles of zirconium acetylac
etonate Zr(aa)(4) in a toluene-heptane supersaturated solution, an ana
lysis has been made of morphological selection of aggregates during co
agulation in a supersaturated medium. It has been established that in
the coagulation of Zr(aa)(4) particles, stable configurations of aggre
gates are selected in accordance with the principle ''equal combines w
ith equal.'' As a result, aggregates of commensurate particles accumul
ate in the stirred suspension. The particles in the aggregates are att
ached to each other through crystallization contacts.
