Abstract
We have studied the optical properties of colloidal MoS2 particles wit h a quantum size effect. We have shown that the spectral characteristi cs of colloidal solutions of MoS2 in acetonitrile are described within a simple quantum mechanical model of optical transitions in semicondu ctors, the size of which is comparable with the exciton localization r egion. The sizes determined for the colloidal MoS2 panicles in acetoni trile are equal to several tens of angstroms.
