Abstract
The angular derivative of the surface tension of the (100)face of a KC l single crystal has been determined from the condition of thermodynam ic equilibrium at the interface of three phases (the KCl single crysta l and two non-miscible liquids), using quasi-equilibrium at the interf ace of three phases (the KCl single crystal and two non-miscible liqui ds), using quasi-equilibrium dissolution of a KCl single crystal. It h as been established that the force, due to the anisotropic constituent of surface tension, is comparable to the surface tensions at the inte rface and that it can play a significant role in the thermodynamics of surface phenomena.
