Abstract
Data from 166 insurance agents were used to examine how three forms of commitment-job involvement, professional commitment. and community co mmitment-are related to job perceptions. attitudes, and performance. P rofessional commitment demonstrated strong and pervasive relationships with job perceptions, job attitudes. and annual earned income. Job in volvement was significantly associated with some specific job percepti ons and attitudes but not with performance. Community commitment exhib ited only isolated effects. The three forms of work commitment were in dependently associated with work related outcomes. The implications of these findings are discussed in a context of understanding work commi tment and insurance sales.
