T. Hayashi et al., STRENGTH PROPERTIES OF 2-PLY LAMINATED LU MBER .2. MODULUS OF RUPTUREIN FLATWISE BENDING, Mokuzai Gakkaishi, 39(9), 1993, pp. 980-984
Flatwise bending tests were made on two-ply laminated lumber composed
of mechanically-graded sugi (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don). Effects of
the lamination on the distribution of the moduli of rupture (MOR) are
discussed. The laminating effects which decreased the variations of th
e strength distributions, were not remarkable. The average MOR and the
lower 5% exclusion limits of the 2 -ply laminated lumber with finger-
joints were the same as those of single finger-jointed lumber. This re
sult was in sharp contrast to the previous tensile test results in whi
ch laminating effects were observed more positively.
