Two decades ago, Paleoindian studies reached a plateau with relatively
few new sites being discovered. Since then, the situation has changed
with the discovery of a number of new Paleoindian sites and the reinv
estigation of a number of older sites. New methodologies are being app
lied to old data and the development of the AMS system of radiocarbon
dating along with an intense interdisciplinary approach to Paleoindian
sites with high integrity have greatly increased the potential for be
tter interpretations. Students may now direct their interests toward m
any different aspects of Paleoindian studies with the potential to con
tinually add significant new data and interpretations.
