Thin films of plasma-polymerized acrylonitrile (PPAN) were deposited b
y plasma polymerization and modified by post pyrolysis and by doping w
ith iodine. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), electrical and opt
ical investigations were used to reveal structural changes during the
modifications. It was found from XPS studies that iodine forms a weak
charge-tranfer complex between iodine and PPAN. These results agree we
ll with the electrical and optical results.
