The results of a DSC study of the S/B2S3 system between room temperatu
re and 330-degrees-C are reported. Plots of the DSC curves as a functi
on of mixture composition indicate three ranges, where S/B2S3 interact
ion presents different modes and effects. Analysis of the peak enthalp
ies shows that up to 40% B2S3 content, the interaction affects sulfur
melting and polymerization in variable ways and extents. For mixtures
with higher B2S3 content, formation of a new phase can be hypothesized
. Conclusions on the interaction phenomenology, drawn from DSC, are su
pported by the preliminary results of FTIR/PAS measurements.
