DEVELOPMENT OF LSIS FOR MD RECORD AND PLA YBACK SYSTEM

The world's smallest and lightest portable MD stereo players were comm ercialized in February, 1993. Then, we developed encode/decode-LSI, AT RAC-LSI' and microcomputer for MD record and playback systems. These L SIs have three features: including most of the digitalsignal processin g part, having the function of automatic regulation, and having the or iginal compression algorithm. The microcomputer is composed of real-ti me and multiple -task operating system. By newly incorporating various development tools in order to improve productivity, we could greatly reduce the development time. This paper describes the functions and fe atures of the LSIs and the microcomputer, and the method for developin g them.
