Kj. Oflynn et Dg. Thomas, INTRAVESICAL INSTILLATION OF OXYBUTYNIN HYDROCHLORIDE FOR DETRUSOR HYPER-REFLEXIA, British Journal of Urology, 72(5), 1993, pp. 566-570
The effect of intravesical oxybutynin hydrochloride on detrusor behavi
our was studied in 15 patients with urinary incontinence due to detrus
or hyper-reflexia by ambulatory bladder monitoring. Twelve patients ha
d a reduction in the frequency and amplitude of hyper-reflexic contrac
tions and incontinence episodes following oxybutynin administration. I
ntravesical oxybutynin may have a role in the management of patients o
n intermittent self-catheterisation with detrusor hyper-reflexia who c
annot tolerate the side effects of anticholinergic agents, including o
xybutynin.
