Mr. Morel et Da. Saravanos, TAILORING OF INELASTIC METAL-MATRIX LAMINATES WITH SIMULTANEOUS PROCESSING CONSIDERATIONS, Composites science and technology, 50(1), 1994, pp. 109-117
A multi-objective methodology is presented to tailor the characteristi
cs of metal-matrix laminates at elevated temperatures. Fabrication and
material parameters are included in the design process. A unique feat
ure is the concurrent inclusion of effects from fabrication, residual
stresses, material non-linearity, and thermo-mechanical loading on the
properties of the post-fabricated laminate. Unidirectional and cross-
ply Gr/Cu composites are tailored for improved axial strength. Similar
ly, a cross-ply Gr/Cu laminate is tailored for improved stiffness and
strength. Strong beneficial coupling was observed between the fabricat
ion process, laminate characteristics, and thermo-mechanical loading.
