Within a trial with 195 bulls of different conformation types of the B
lack-Pied cattle the course of growth, the energy efficiency, the slau
ghter and nutritive value have been under investigation. Large framed
and thick muscled bulls were superior to the other groups in depositio
n performance. The large framed and thin muscled bulls showed a smalle
r growth performance after having reached a weight of 500 kilogramme w
hich can be explained by a higher increase of the fatty tissue. The av
erage 0.6 to 1.7 per cent decreased portion of bones of the small fram
ed thick muscled bulls was responsible for compensating their smaller
growth performance nearly completely. With regard to the meat quality
there were no essential differences between the groups.
