THE GENERALIZED MODUS PONENS AND THE TRIANGULAR FUZZY DATA MODEL

In this paper the generalized modus ponens is confronted with the tria ngular fuzzy data model. The possible representations of non-fuzzy and fuzzy single-antecedent single-consequent rules are discussed extensi vely. From this discussion five families of fuzzy implication operator s are extracted, leading to five families of generalized modus ponens inference rules. The behaviour of these inference rules is studied whe n they are faced with triangular fuzzy data. It is shown that the conc lusions obtained with these inference rules can be expressed in an exa ct analytical way.
