Abstract
Good counseling and better selection of candidates would result in the intrauterine device's (IUD) safer use. Age and parity of the IUD acce ptor do not seem to be associated with an increased risk of pelvic inf lammatory disease (PID). The newer generation of copper- and hormone-r eleasing IUDs are associated with improved safety and efficacy.
