Palynological analysis of 24 subsurface samples (cores) from Ordovicia
n rocks of the Tadla Basin, western Meseta, Morocco, has permitted us
to identify five chitinozoan assemblages of late Arenig, latest Arenig
, early Llandeilo, early Caradoc and late Ashgill age. Two new species
Laufeldochitina protolardeuxi nov. sp. and Lagenochitina spinatostoma
nov. sp. are proposed in this paper. Comparison of these assemblages
with contemporary assemblages from North Africa and southwestern Europ
e show their stratigraphic position and identifies taxon with a strati
graphic potential.
