The possibility of complex formation in binary mixtures of n-butylamin
e-n-butanol and n-propylamine-n-propanol is studied using dielectric p
robe. The dipole moment, the interaction dipole-moment, induced polari
zation due to H-bonding and apparent complex formation constant of the
complexes have been evaluated. Both the components have bifunctional
groups-proton donor as well as proton acceptor. Three alternatives of
complex formation are analysed. The results indicate that the complexa
tion in both the cases is due to charge redistribution and the most li
kely complexation is due to linkage between N(delta-) (proton acceptor
) of amine with H(delta+) of alcohol (proton donor).
