Abstract
The pronounced effects of edge-ringing associated with coherent images of straight edges can be considerably reduced by using various amplit ude apodisation filters in the Fourier plane. This note presents a com parative study of the performance of optical systems apodised with var ious amplitude filters. A relative assessment has been made on the bas is of edge-ringing, edge-shifting, edge-gradient and edge-spread.
