Abstract
A new efficient in-fiber acoustooptic phase modulator is demonstrated in which the acoustic wave is focused onto the fiber by reflection fro m a cylindrical surface. The device exhibits a phase modulation of 2.6 3 rad at a light wavelength of 1550 nm, using an RF frequency of 86 MH z and power of 1 W.
