The photoconductivity of dual layer photoreceptors, containing zinc ph
thalocyanine (ZnPc) or other phthalocyanines as the charge generators,
and polyvinylcarbazole (PVK) as the charge transportor, have been stu
died. Various factors influencing the photoconductivity of the materia
ls were analysed. The results show that ZnPc possesses an obvious phot
oconductivity which can be further increased after solvent treatment a
nd ball milling. The photoconductivity of ZnPc mixed in homophase with
copper phthalocyanine(CuPc), ferrous phthalocyanine (Fe(II)Pc) or chl
oroindium phthalocyanine (InCIPc) was also studied. An increased photo
conductivity for ZnPc-CuPc but a decreased photoconductivity for ZnPc-
InCIPc and ZnPc-Fe(II)Pc were found. Polymorphic transformation of ZnP
c occurs from one composite to another and this is probably due to the
change in the intermolecular interaction within these materials.
