Abstract
Secondary beta relaxation of polyethylene blends (50/50 HDPE/LDPE) wer e studied by photoluminescence of anthracene molecules dissolved in th e polymer bulk. The temperature of the beta relaxation has been determ ined as T(beta) = -40-degrees-C by the dependence of the ratio of vibr onic components of the fluorescence band on the temperature. The molec ular mechanism of this relaxation has been discussed considering the p ossibility of the energy migration involving anthracene molecules in t he singlet electronic excited and ground states.
