Sm. Martinsfranchetti et Tdz. Atvars, PHOTOLUMINESCENCE STUDY OF BETA-RELAXATION OF POLYETHYLENE BLENDS, Journal of applied polymer science, 50(9), 1993, pp. 1591-1599
Secondary beta relaxation of polyethylene blends (50/50 HDPE/LDPE) wer
e studied by photoluminescence of anthracene molecules dissolved in th
e polymer bulk. The temperature of the beta relaxation has been determ
ined as T(beta) = -40-degrees-C by the dependence of the ratio of vibr
onic components of the fluorescence band on the temperature. The molec
ular mechanism of this relaxation has been discussed considering the p
ossibility of the energy migration involving anthracene molecules in t
he singlet electronic excited and ground states. (C) 1993 John Wiley &
