HIV associated lymphomas are usually B-cell (non-Hodgkin's) in origin.
These are accepted by the Centers for Disease Control as a surveillan
ce definition for the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). It h
as been increasingly recognized that Hodgkin's lymphoma also occurs in
HIV infected patients, although it is relatively uncommon and to date
appears confined to males who are either intravenous drug abusers or
homosexuals. We report a case in a Saudi female whose sole risk for ac
quisition of HIV was sexual contact from her husband. Chemotherapy wit
h MOPP/ABVD resulted in regression of the Hodgkin's disease for 14 mon
ths, but she died of an uncontrollable opportunistic infection.
