Abstract
The paper presents a simple analog circuit which can realize the membe rship functions necessary for a hardware implementation of fuzzy reaso ning. The circuit, which is based on bipolar technology, arranges thes e transistors in such a way so as to produce a current spike similar t o that observed in the CMOS inverter configuration during switching. T his spike characteristic is then amplified to produce, as an output; e ither a current or a voltage. Additional inputs have also been include d to produce the S, Z, Lambda, and II outputs. The circuit can also ta ke either a current or voltage as an input, thus adding flexibility to its operation. Simulation results which demonstrate the operation of the circuit using T-Spice are presented; experimental results which su pport these are also shown. (C) Elsevier Science Inc. 1997.
