M. Bodzek et K. Konieczny, CHARACTERIZATION OF GEL LAYER FORMED DURING ULTRAFILTRATION OF LATEX EMULSION WASTE-WATERS, Desalination, 94(1), 1993, pp. 81-100
The results of investigations of the ultrafiltration of latex waste wa
ters, carried out with and without stirring, have been presented. The
dependence of the permeate flux versus time profiles, transmembrane pr
essure and latex particle concentration for three polyacrylonitrile me
mbranes of differing compactness, have been worked out. The basic para
meters of the gel layer formed on the membrane surface, i.e., the resi
stance of the gel layer (G(g)), specific resistance (a) and mass of ge
l per unit area of the membrane (m(g)/A(m)) have been calculated based
on the data of ultrafiltration without stirring.
