Ap. Nazarov et al., THE HYDROGEN ADSORPTION OF MAGNESIUM DURING FREE AND ANODIC CORROSIONIN A CHLORIDE ELECTROLYTE, Protection of metals, 29(3), 1993, pp. 313-317
Hydrogen adsorption (hydride formation) of magnesium during corrosion
and anodic dissolution in Cl--containing electrolytes has been demonst
rated by physicochemical methods. Hydride formation occurs at sites of
depassivation, when an active metal surface is formed. The electroche
mical behavior of the hydride phase in alkali was studied. A method is
proposed for the electrochemical determination of the surface concent
ration of hydride hydrogen.
