Ss. Baker, TEAMWORK BETWEEN THE HEALTH-CARE COMMUNITY AND THE BLIND REHABILITATION SYSTEM, Journal of visual impairment & blindness, 87(9), 1993, pp. 349-351
Despite preventive efforts, 8,000 persons with diabetes lose their vis
ion each year. The medical community does not often address the needs
of people with diabetes who become visually impaired, and rehabilitati
on services for visually impaired people often do not incorporate suff
icient diabetes education. This article describes a program in which t
eamwork and communication between both systems of care provide an opti
mum environment for successful rehabilitation.
