R. Zeisler et al., EFFECTIVE TOOLS FOR THE TRACE-ELEMENT CHARACTERIZATION OF TISSUES - NEUTRON-ACTIVATION ANALYSIS AND VOLTAMMETRY, Science of the total environment, 140, 1993, pp. 403-410
The National Biomonitoring Specimen Bank at the National Institute of
Standards an Technology applies a variety of techniques for extensive
characterization of banked samples. To determine a large number of tra
ce elements in small samples at low levels, instrumental neutron activ
ation analysis has been combined with voltammetry. The two methods pro
duce high quality data for thirty pollutant and biological trace eleme
nts. Results on archived specimens of human livers and intercomparison
s of the two methods are reported.
