Abstract
Sequential nucleophile/proton addition to (eta6-Cr6H6)Cr(PF3)3 (2) yie lds the highly fluxional agostic complexes 3 and 4. The mechanism of i somerization has been elucidated by variable-temperature NMR studies a nd the agostic structure confirmed by an X-ray analysis of 4 ((C12H12) Cr(PF3)3, a = 7.608(3) angstrom, b = 15.259(3) angstrom, c = 14.490(3) angstrom, beta = 102.92(3)-degrees, monoclinic, P2(1)/c, Z = 4).
