Abstract
The design and performance of the third level trigger of the L3 experi ment at LEP are described. The implementation is based on a 3081/E emu lator farm interfaced to the Fastbus data acquisition system and on so ftware algorithms for event processing written in FORTRAN. The system, used for background rejection and event tagging, also provides online monitoring of the detector status and the data quality.
