The deterioration of the calorimeter response to electrons in the pres
ence of upstream material has been investigated inside a magnetic fiel
d. Data for different absorber thicknesses, distances and electron ene
rgies are compared to Monte Carlo calculations. Results are extended t
o the geometrical situation of a typical collider detector.
