The scintillation light induced by Am-241 5.5 MeV alpha-particles in l
iquid argon doped with about 2% xenon detected with a fused silica UV
photomultiplier tube is investigated. The pulse-height spectrum, the a
node pulse shape and the attenuation of the light output are measured.
The latter measurement was the main task of the present investigation
and an effective half-length of more than 35 mm was found.
