Direct calculations of cold and hot nuclear matter (bulk and surface p
roperties) are carried out within the frame of a pseudo-particle model
using a gaussian decomposition of the distribution function. Comparis
ons with Hartree-Fock calculations, for a large class of effective int
eractions, show that such a model is reliable to reproduce accurately
the equation of state of nuclear matter for large ranges of densities
and temperatures. The number of gaussians per nucleon and the gaussian
widths are critical parameters in that semi-classical model.
