Ss. Prabhu et al., INTRACRANIAL MENINGEAL MELANOCYTOMA - A REPORT OF 2 CASES AND A REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE, Surgical neurology, 40(6), 1993, pp. 516-521
Two rare cases of intracranial meningeal melanocytoma are reported wit
h clinical, radiologic, and pathologic findings. In one of these the d
iagnosis was established by ultrastructural studies that showed premel
anosomes and melanosomes in nonarachnoid-derived tumor cells. The othe
r case was diagnosed retrospectively after a very long survival and is
still alive 35 years after total excision and radiotherapy. The occur
rence of these tumors in the cerebellopontine angle is rare as seen in
our case.
