With the help of the conditional strong symmetry, we obtain the K symm etries, r symmetries, infinite dimensional Lie algebra and the corresp onding infinite conservation quantities of the variable coefficient Kd V equation )(t)(u(xxx)+6uu(x))+4h(2)(t)u(x)-h(0)(t)(2u+xu(x)) with h(0 ), h(1) and h(2) being three arbitrary functions of t.
