K. Takamizawa et al., BETA-HYDROXYPROPIONIC ACID PRODUCTION BY BYSSOCHLAMYS SP GROWN ON ACRYLIC-ACID, Applied microbiology and biotechnology, 40(2-3), 1993, pp. 196-200
A strain of Byssochlamys sp. produced beta-hydroxypropionic acid when
grown on media containing high concentrations of acrylic acid. The max
imal production of beta-hydroxypropionic acid was 4.8% when the initia
l culture medium contained 7% acrylic acid and 2% glucose, and the ini
tial culture pH was adjusted to 7.0. beta-Hydroxypropionic acid produc
tion from acrylic acid depended greatly on the pH of the culture mediu
m. Calcium hydroxide was the best neutralizer.
