The energy at which collective transverse flow in the reaction plane d
isappears, the balance energy E(bal), is found to depend on the isospi
n of the system using the reactions Fe-58 + Fe-58 and Ni-58 + Ni-58. T
he more neutron-rich system exhibits higher balance energies for all m
easured impact parameters, in agreement with the predictions of a tran
sport model which incorporates an isospin dependent mean field and iso
spin dependent in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross sections.
