S. Sato et al., EXPRESSION OF C-MYC MESSENGER-RNA AND PROTEIN IN HUMAN ENDOMETRIAL CARCINOMA - SIMULTANEOUS STUDY OF IN-SITU HYBRIDIZATION AND IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY, Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine, 170(4), 1993, pp. 229-234
We examined the c-myc gene at both mRNA and protein levels in tumors o
f 10 endometrial carcinomas by simultaneous in situ hybridization and
immunohistochemistry. Expression of c-myc mRNA was observed in all cas
es by in situ hybridization. Immunohistochemically, c-myc protein expr
ession was also observed in all cases and immunoreactivity was recogni
zed as nuclear staining. The site of c-myc protein expression was most
ly consistent with that of c-myc mRNA expression. While there has been
no clear correlation between the expression of c-myc mRNA and/or prot
ein and prognostic parameters so far, this approach will contribute to
an understanding of oncogene expression and its biological significan
ce in human gynecological malignancies.
