Conventional pressure tests in horizontal wells raise a lot practical
problems and interpretation difficulties. As a result they have become
less an less often performed by oil companies. In this paper some exa
mples of ideal heterogeneous reservoirs simulated numerically are pres
ented. We emphasize that well tests in horizontal wells drilled in het
erogeneous reservoirs have to be conducted in a different manner than
for conventional wells and that a new methodology is required to gain
the maximum profit in term of reservoir characterization.
