Abstract
Let X be a finite H-space with H(X; Z2) associative. Then the first h omotopy group of X occurs in degrees 1, 3 or 7. This result generalize s earlier results of Adams, Clark and Thomas. The proof uses secondary operations which factor primary operations of length 2 as well as a K -theory result due to Jeanneret.
