In-plane and oblique-angle ferromagnetic resonance measurements were p
erformed on Fe/Cr/Fe samples in order to measure the exchange coupling
values between the magnetic layers for the in-plane and normal geomet
ries. Samples consisted of well characterized Fe/Cr sandwiches grown b
y molecular beam epitaxy onto (001) GaAs with different Cr layer thick
nesses (t(Cr)). All samples had previously been shown by other experim
ental techniques to have antiferromagnetic coupling of the Fe layers.
For one sample (t(Cr) = 20 angstrom) the deduced in-plane and perpendi
cular values of the exchange coupling coincide. In the second sample (
t(Cr) = 13 angstrom) the deduced exchange coupling values for in-plane
and perpendicular magnetization orientations were found to differ by
10%.
