Abstract
Proper selection of quenchant and quenching conditions facilitates red uced distortion and greater consistency of dimensional changes in hard ened components, thus minimising the necessary grinding allowances. Th e authors have investigated the influence of several quenchant types ( oils, salt) and operating parameters (temperature, holding time) on th e distortion behaviour of selected bearing rings.
