Abstract
One of the most important material parameters controlling the properti es of heat-treatable engineering steels, hardenability can affect the consistency of response to heat treatment in terms of microstructure, hardness, strength, toughness and dimensional changes. In order to fac ilitate the manufacture and supply of steels to hardenability specific ations, especially restricted limits, a new technique termed the ''Dat abase Method' has been developed for the prediction of Jominy hardenab ility from chemical composition.
