N. Dorairajan et al., ANTIBODY-LEVELS TO FOOT-AND-MOUTH-DISEASE VACCINE O-TYPE IN VACCINATED EWES, Indian Veterinary Journal, 70(11), 1993, pp. 996-998
Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) (Loeffler and Fresch, 1897), casued by a
picornavirus is one of the economically importont viral diseases in mo
st of the developing countries like India. Owing to the antigenic pleu
rality, complete eradication is a problem in many countries. Four majo
r types have been reported in this continent, viz, O, A, C and Asia-1,
among cattle and sheep (Sharma, 1979; Singh and Sharma, 1980), In the
present study, the levels of antibody against FMDV 'O' type in the se
ra of ewes vaccinated with polyvalent Foot and Mouth Disease vaccine,
at different time points after lambing are reported.
