Dibenzoyl peroxide undergoes oxidative addition reaction with metallic
copper powder and triphenylphosphine, which affords product as a binu
clear complex, [Cu2-(OPPh3)2(C6H5CO2)4]. The structure of the complex
was characterized by elemental -analyses, IR, TG and X-ray powder diff
raction. Crystals are monoclinic, space group A2/a, a=2.4337(3), b = 1
.0556(1), c = 2.1579(2)nm, Z = 4, beta = 93.18(1)degrees, V = 5.540 (1
)nm3, R = 0.042, R(w) = 0.044, Each copper ion is coordinated by four
bridging benzoato oxygens and one triphenylphosphine oxide to form a d
imeric binuclear molecule.
