Abstract
A new binary Zr-Pd phase with Zr3Pd4 stoichiometry was found. The stru cture of the phase was investigated by transmission electron microscop y and powder neutron diffraction. The structure belongs to the Pu3Pd4 structure type, which has a rhombohedral R3BAR space group with 42 ato ms in a hexagonal cell. Modifications of the Zr-Pd phase diagram which accommodate the new phase are suggested.
